Ages 6 -12
The School Aged swim program has five levels designed to help children grow personally and develop strokes and safety skills. Emphasis is on endurance, personal safety, skill development, and lifesaving techniques. Fall/Winter/ Spring weekday classes meet twice per week for four weeks, forty five minutes. Summer weekday classes meet three days per week for two weeks, sixty minutes. Saturday classes meet once per week for six weeks, sixty minutes.
Level 1: Gain comfort, water entry, bubbles, submersion, front and back glides and floats, alternating leg and arm action, tread water, roll from front to back or back to front.
Level 2: Gain fundamental skills, bobbing, retrieving submerged objects, front and back float and glides, recover to vertical, jellyfish and tuck float, combined arm and leg action.
Level 3: Level 2 skills in deep water, jump in, head first entry, survival float, change positions, flutter, scissor, dolphin, breaststroke kicks, front crawl, elementary backstroke.
Level 4: Develop confidence, underwater swim, surface dives, survival swim, open turns, front and back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke, butterfly.
Level 5: Refinement of stokes, shallow-angle dive and swim, tuck and pike surface dives, flip turns, sculling.
