AGES 6 months – 3 years

This class is designed to orient infants and toddlers to the water with the comfort of their parent or other trusted caregiver. The class strengthens the amount of trust between caregiver and child while teaching caregivers how to encourage aquatic activity with their child. A parent or other trusted caregiver must be in the water with each child at all times.  

May sessions will meet twice per week for three weeks, summer sessions will meet three days per week for two weeks. All classes are scheduled for six forty minute lessons per session.

Parent & Child: Ages 6 months –  36 months

Parent must be in water with child for all classes

A parent must be in the water with each child at all times. Participants who are not potty- trained must wear little swimmers or plastic swim pants.  No diapers are allowed in the pool.

AGES 3-5

The North Mobile Preschool swim program is designed to help children progress and build elementary swimming and safety skills. Children are placed in small groups with Red Cross trained instructors. Classes emphasize developing the coordination, endurance, and self-confidence of the preschooler.

May sessions will meet twice per week for three weeks, summer sessions will meet three days per week for two weeks. All classes are scheduled for six forty minute lessons per session.

*Headfirst entries (diving) skills are not taught at the North Mobile Branch due to water depth of 3.6 feet.

Ages 3-5

The John McClure Snook Preschool swim program is designed to help children progress and build elementary swimming and safety skills. Children are placed in small groups with Red Cross trained instructors. Classes emphasize developing the coordination, endurance, and self-confidence of the preschooler.  Summer classes meet Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays  mornings or evenings for two weeks, thirty- minutes. 

Note: When registering on line, if you are not a Y Member, you will need to choose Program Participant as the membership type. 

Ages 3-5

AGES 13 and UP

For beginner and advanced beginner students who wish to learn to swim or want to improve their basic swimming skills. Classes have a low student-to-instructor ratio and incorporate time for individual skills practice at the end of each class. Skills emphasized include: basic water acclimation, front and back floating, treading movements, basic breathing and basic stroke work in front and back crawl, breaststroke, and elementary back stroke. 

May sessions will meet twice per week for three weeks, summer sessions will meet three days per week for two weeks. All classes are scheduled for six forty minute lessons per session.
